Long Term Placements
If you want to stay for a long time in Nepal and experience the real Nepalese culture, then we would like to invite you to join in our long term voluntary program. There are varieties of opportunities for example teaching English or Science in school, carryout research on various socio-economic subjects, medical work in health centers or hospitals, agricultural, gardening and designing works in farm or parks, secretarial works in NGO office and more..! Of course, all placements will be real "home stays".

A
home stay is where you can stay with a Nepalese family in city or a rural village of Nepal for a period of one day to five months. Home stays provide the unique opportunity to learn about the Nepalese culture and vise versa. It's a great chance to exchange You will live with a family who will provide food and accommodation, plus home entertainment, this does not mean television or hi-fi, but home grown praying, singing and dancing! The villages have few facilities, for example: some have no secondary school or inadequately equipped health center. By participating in Home stay programs, you can help the villagers to help themselves. Your funds go to those areas that most need it. Home stays are situated in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lamjung, Gorkha, Sindhupalcowk, Chitwan (near national park) and Lumbini (the birth place of Lord Buddha).

Teaching in a deprived rural area, either in a disadvantaged government school, or informally teaching villagers, is a big challenge. You will live with Nepalis. English does not need to be your native language, you just need to have reasonable verbal and written skills. Native speakers are sometimes placed in one of the hundreds of private schools advertising "English-medium" education where the standard of English is much better, easing communication with school staff and pupils.

A few volunteers might even have the opportunity to work with women NGOs.
And there is always a need for someone to undertake administration at
NIFC-Nepal office in Kathmandu.

Placements are available throughout the year in Nepal. If you have one to five months available then why not to do something that is rewarding and will contribute to the development of Nepal. All nationalities are welcome. English need not be your native language. We need people with a reasonable verbal and written skill.

To spend a
memorable time in Nepal become a long term volunteer and contribute to the long term development of Nepal.
